The Liftmaster 64lm and the 974LM are completely different styles of garage door openers. The 64LM has 4 sets of dip switch that you personally code to open each of your 4 doors. The 974LM on the other hand uses rolling code technology and is coded by using the learn button on the back of each overhead motor. There will be an LED light that you press down first then you press the button on your remote that you wish to be programmed to open that door. Then you repeat the steps for each and ever door you have.
